Meet the Kinder, Gentler Version of 'Cotton-Like' Tampons… Our 100% Organic Cotton Tampons

Have you noticed how tampons and sanitary pads sold today are often advertised as having a "cottony feel" or "cotton-like softness?"

Before you purchase any of these products, there's something you should know: not all feminine hygiene products are made from REAL cotton.

Instead, they are made from synthetic ingredients or from genetically modified cotton that may pose dangers to your health.

The good news is that I came up with a unique and safe product that can provide you with the protection you need during your period, but will not put your well-being in jeopardy.

But first, I'd like to share with you the alarming truth behind the conventional "cotton" tampons that millions of women purchase today.

Not All Tampons Are as Safe as They Seem

Many women do not even think about what feminine hygiene products are made of. If a brand says "cotton-made" on the label, most women automatically think it's safe.

But the FDA does not have mandatory guidelines for the materials used in feminine hygiene products. They only regulate the absorbency of tampons: all tampons on the market must meet the same absorption guidelines.

Tampon and sanitary pad manufacturers are NOT REQUIRED to disclose the ingredients, including chemicals used in the manufacturing process, because feminine hygiene products are "medical devices."

So that means manufacturers can be deceiving you by implying that their products contain real cotton – even though there's no trace of natural cotton in these products!

Most Conventional Tampons Today Are Made From Synthetic Materials

Most feminine hygiene products are mostly made from non-cotton materials, such as:

  • Rayon – made from cellulose fibers derived from bleached wood pulp
  • Viscose – a form of wood cellulose acetate that's fabricated to have a pleasing cotton-like touch.
  • Wood fluff pulp – manufactured from tree wood. It is the major filler used in conventional sanitary pads.

Although highly absorbent, these synthetic, tree-derived materials are NOTHING like cotton. What's more, they can present potential dangers to your health, as the fibers can easily loosen up, stick to your vaginal wall, and be left behind inside your body.

If you don't believe me, here's one experiment you can try: grab one of your regular, store-bought tampons, remove its wrapper and applicator, and then pull it open. Give the fibers a tug using your fingers. You may notice that the fibers break apart easily.

Repeat this over a dark piece of cloth or paper – notice how dusty fiber particles are falling from the tampon? These are the same fibers that are getting stuck inside your body.

This is something that you hardly have to worry about if you're using natural tampons made from 100 percent certified organic cotton.

The Price You Pay for 'Clean' White Tampons

Tampons made from rayon are most commonly bleached with chlorine to give it that white color associated with "purity and cleanliness."

When you use chlorine to bleach any material, there is a great possibility toxic carcinogens and disinfection byproducts (DBPs) like trihalomethane will be created.

Dioxin is another dangerous toxin created when chlorine is added to other materials. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers dioxin a serious public health threat. There is no "safe" level of exposure.

Dioxin is actually in the same family as Agent Orange. It's a byproduct of pollution from incinerators, pesticide spraying, and the production of paper and rayon products, such as tampons, coffee filters, toilet paper, and even disposable diapers.

According to studies, dioxin can accumulate in the fatty tissues of animals and humans, where it can cause:

  • Immune system suppression
  • Abnormal tissue growth in your abdomen and reproductive organs
  • Abnormal cell growth throughout your body
  • Hormonal and endocrine system disruption

A leading doctor of microbiology and immunology at a major university medical center even claimed that "dioxins, though they exist in the environment, have a WORSE effect when they contact mucus surfaces like the vagina."

Yet, the government is turning a blind eye to this damaging toxin, concluding that there is NO health risk expected from dioxins in tampons and pads!

There are even claims that many sanitary pad and tampon manufacturers in the U.S. are now using "elemental chlorine-free" processes… which use CHLORINE DIOXIDE instead! And according to their report, these "chlorine-free" bleaching processes can theoretically generate dioxins at extremely low levels.

But that's not all…

Even Your Tampon Applicators May Contain Damaging Chemicals

To allow easy insertion, tampons come with applicators – a plastic or cardboard tube that allows you to push the tampon inside the vagina.

However, I advise you to be careful, as these seemingly harmless applicators may also be laced with toxic chemicals, such as phthalates.

Phthalates are known endocrine disruptors. They can interfere with your normal endocrine function. Phthalates give the tampon applicators the shiny, "glossy" finish that allows them to easily slide inside your vagina.

However, there is another more urgent and alarming reason why I urge you to be EXTRA cautious when it comes to buying and using tampons…

Toxic Shock Syndrome: Are You at Risk of This Potentially Fatal Infection?

If you're a long-time user of tampons, then you've probably heard of toxic shock syndrome (TSS).

This is a rare bacterial infection that's caused by the Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteria. Normally, S. aureus bacteria are harmless and are found on your skin and mucous membranes, such as your vagina. But in certain conditions, they can enter your bloodstream, releasing toxins that can turn deadly.

Toxic shock syndrome can lead to a potentially fatal drop in blood pressure (shock), known as hypotension, as well as organ damage. Other symptoms of TSS can include:

  • Sudden high fever
  • Rash on your palms or soles
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Low blood pressure
  • Seizures
  • Muscle aches
  • Redness of your eyes, mouth, and throat

If you experience any of these symptoms during your period, I advise you to seek medical help immediately. If not treated right away, toxic shock syndrome can be fatal.

TSS has been associated with the use of tampons, particularly super-absorbent types that have been left inside for too long. Tampons that are left in too long are the perfect breeding ground for S. aureus bacteria. What's more, when a tampon is inserted or removed incorrectly, it can scratch your vaginal wall, producing micro tears where bacteria can enter and accumulate.

However, emerging research says that the material which the tampon is made of may also have a significant effect in your chances of getting this bacterial infection.

Because tampons made with synthetics like rayon, viscose, and fluff pulp can leave behind fibers, they can create a favorable environment for bacteria growth. The outgassing of carbon dioxide and oxygen from these synthetic tampons can also provide a food source for S. aureus bacteria.

This is another urgent reason to make the switch to organic cotton tampons right away – and I've got the perfect product just for you.

And here's one more thing I believe you'll appreciate…

Each cotton tampon has its own "security veil" – a soft, breathable organic cotton cover that provides double insurance against any of the cotton separating from the tampon. The absorbent fibers remain with the tampon, right where you want them.

The Wonders of Organic Cotton…

The USDA says that cotton is the third most heavily insecticide/herbicide treated crop in the U.S., just behind corn and soy. What's more, the EPA classifies nine of the most common pesticides used on cotton as highly toxic, while five are considered probable carcinogens.

What's more, 70 percent of conventional cotton crops today are genetically modified.

This means that even if you're using cotton tampons, if it's not 100 percent certified organic, you may still be exposed to damaging chemicals.

So a word of advice: when buying tampons, NEVER settle for anything less than 100 percent organic cotton.

The organic cotton used for the natural tampons in my Premium Personal Care Line are grown without the use of toxic fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, and is not genetically engineered.

It is made through organic farming methods that help replenish and maintain soil fertility, while promoting biodiversity to protect the air and water systems.

Organic cotton is not "Big Business." In fact, when you buy my organic tampons, you are supporting small independently owned and operated family farms.

Naturally, organic cotton may cost a little more – but considering that it helps protect your health from potential toxins, the few extra cents will be definitely worth it.
