Grab These Organic Blueberries for a Delicious Treat

Vital Choice wild blueberries

I recommend almost all vegetables wholeheartedly, as you can review in my recommended vegetables list. When it comes to fruits, though, I urge more moderation and careful selection.

When I am asked to recommend one type of fruit overall, my answer is berries. They are some of the healthiest fruits on the planet, in part because they haven't been hybridized into giant fruits full of sugar. They are instead small and densely packed with a variety of potent phytochemicals that can do wonders to support your health. And easily one of the best berries on the planet, absolutely loaded with antioxidants, is the blueberry.

Of course, as with all fruits and vegetables, I highly recommend you try to buy organic. If you have a hard time finding quality, wild organic blueberries in your area, or if you simply want to try some of the most delicious blueberries available, I highly recommend you try the Vital Choice Wild Organic Blueberries offered here.

Research Shows Wild Blueberries Are the #1 Fruit!

In the June 2004 issue of Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry researchers used a technique called oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) to test the antioxidant power of more than 100 different kinds of fruits, vegetables, nuts and spices. In a laboratory testing, wild blueberries emerged as the top antioxidant capacity fruit – and overall were second only to Mexican red beans!

For the first time, in this antioxidant study, the USDA evaluated both wild (lowbush) and cultivated (highbush) blueberries and found that wild surpassed its cultivated cousins by 48%. Scientists attribute the high antioxidant capacity of Wild Blueberries to anthocyanin, the phytonutrient responsible for the berry's deep blue color.

The official standings of this study are listed below...

1. Small red beans (dried), also known as Mexican red bean 11. Strawberries
2. Blueberries (wild) 12. Red Delicious apples
3. Red kidney beans 13. Granny Smith apples
4. Pinto beans 14. Pecans
5. Blueberries (cultivated) 15. Cherries
6. Cranberries 16. Black plums
7. Artichokes (cooked) 17. Russet potatoes (cooked)
8. Blackberries 18. Black beans (dried)
9. Prunes 19. Red plums
10. Raspberries 20. Gala apples
