People have been drinking tea for thousands of years. Taking the time to enjoy a cup of tea allows us to stop and relax amidst our busy, often stress-filled days.

Many consumers today are switching to tea as their primary beverage as they become more informed not only about the fantastic health benefits of biodynamic and organic tea but also about the potentially harmful effects of sugar-laden and artificially processed beverages.

In addition to some obvious benefits, recent studies suggest some more tangible health connections. Study after study over the past decades verifies that tea contributes significantly to a healthy lifestyle.

Back in 1990, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an agency of the United Nations, announced the beginning of a worldwide campaign to encourage tea drinking, especially among young people.

The FAO not only put forth that tea was a beverage that represented no health risks but also determined its beneficial qualities. The positive effects of tea drinking on health were stressed during the 1990 meeting of delegates from 27 countries.

Indeed, tea has numerous potential health benefits:

  • Contains powerful antioxidants that may help support the immune system
  • Can aid in digestion and soothing the stomach after a meal
  • Contains an amino acid – L-theanine – widely recommended for sleep and relaxation
  • Acts as a mild “pick me up” with a moderate amount of caffeine (about 1/3 the amount in coffee)

Green tea presents promising health benefits. Early scientific studies on green teas were presented at the 1991 American Chemical Society’s convention in New York, NY.

The materials from this symposium were later synthesized and published in the New England Journal of Medicine. This initial scientific research showed that the polyphenols present in tea (and in greater strength in green tea) act as antioxidants to help neutralize free radicals.

Many herbs and spices used in tea blends have been known for centuries for their beneficial properties as well. For example, South African Rooibos tea contains multiple vitamins and minerals. Tulsi, or Holy Basil, the scared Indian Ayurvedic herb, has rich antioxidant and adaptogenic properties.

Supporting Biodynamic® and Organic Farmers at the Local Level

In each of our biodynamic and organic teas, the growing methods used, be it in India, Africa, China, or Southern Asia, focus on harmony between wildlife and agriculture as well as ecological responsibility to bring you pure, high-quality teas.

Know that your purchase empowers the livelihood of small tea growers and producers, providing them with numerous benefits. Your purchase matters because it will provide these farmers with access to credit, help them attain fair prices for products and provide them and their families with improved health care and education.

These teas are sourced only from top-quality biodynamic and organic tea farms that adhere to the strictest growing practices and standards, using gentler, more environmentally friendly fertilizers and amendments approved by Demeter Certified Biodynamic® and the National Organic Program (NOP) for Certified Organic.

Our belief and philosophy revolves around pure teas. We can assure you our complete supply chain process as well as our product line is free of non-organic certified pesticides, chemical fertilizers and genetically engineered (GE) ingredients.

You see, unlike a tomato or an apple, tea cannot be washed after harvesting. Water initiates the oxidation process, which turns green tea into black or oolong tea, and also develops caffeine and other enzymes.

The bottom line is that whatever has been sprayed on the tea leaves, herbs, spices or worked into the soil, brews directly into the cup of tea you drink. Rest assured, we pay attention to our sourcing, blending and manufacturing processes to allow you to prepare a pure cup of tea.

Striving for a higher standard whenever possible, we worked exclusively with Demeter Certified Biodynamic® tea farmers to offer you our Solspring® Biodynamic® teas, certified by the platinum standard for high-quality nutritious foods.

Even though Certified Organic is a high-quality and reliable standard, Certified Biodynamic® is simply a step up. With a spiritual-ethical-ecological approach, Biodynamic® farmers strive to create a diverse and balanced ecosystem within their farm to enhance the nutrition and quality of the food being grown with a heavy focus on sustainability.

Recognizing that tea is both a beloved and healthy ritual for people, we’re committed to offering tea blends that are a true reflection of the fruit or spice character for which each blend is named.

Whenever we source products to bring to you, we’re always excited to find partners whose emphasis on sustainability, quality and other important values align with our own.

This has certainly been the case with our organic tea products and is the continued tradition with our new Solspring® Certified Biodynamic® teas as well:

  • English Breakfast Tea

Solspring® Biodynamic® Organic English Breakfast Black Tea – This tea is a blend of black teas grown and harvested from small Selimbong and Putharjhora tea gardens situated in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. Using traditional Indian Assam black tea leaves to create a hearty, full-bodied robust tea, this Biodynamic® English Breakfast Tea is naturally caffeinated and is perfect to drink alone or in the traditional style with milk.

  • Himalayan White Tea

Solspring® Biodynamic® Organic Himalayan White Tea – This traditional white tea is grown in the Darjeeling region of India in the Himalayan Foothills, an area with abundant wildlife and lively, nurtured soil. The Teesta River runs nearby, offering pristine water originating from a Himalayan glacier. This biodynamic tea offers a crisp yet delicate floral flavor and contains some caffeine (naturally caffeinated). It makes an invigorating option in the morning or as an afternoon boost.

  • Imperial Green Tea

Solspring® Biodynamic® Organic Imperial Green Tea – This traditional green tea is grown and harvested in small Putharjhora tea gardens located in India that are over 100 years old. Situated within the Darjeeling district on the southern end of the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, these small, third-generation family-owned tea gardens are surrounded by virgin evergreen forests. Biodynamic® Imperial Green Tea naturally contains caffeine and offers a light and crisp flavor.

  • Organic Tulsi Herbal Tea

Solspring® Biodynamic® Organic Tulsi Herbal Tea – This delightful tea comes from the tulsi Ayurvedic herb indigenous to India. It is grown and harvested in the Southwest region of Kamataka on Magadi Farms in a community of nearly 150 small, third-generation, family-owned tea gardens. Naturally caffeine free, our Biodynamic® Tulsi Herbal Tea offers a blend of three varieties of tulsi to create a beautifully earthy and slightly minty flavor.

  • Organic Tulsi Lemon Ginger Herbal Tea

Solspring® Organic Tulsi Lemon Ginger Herbal Tea – Naturally caffeine free, this tea offers a blend of three varieties of organic tulsi - Krishna, Rama and Vana – along with organic ginger, lemongrass and lemon peel to create a beautifully earthy and slightly spicy flavor. • Rooibos Spiced Chai Tea

Solspring® Organic Rooibos Spiced Chai – This herbal tea combines robust spices with the subtle, earthy sweetness of rooibos to create a light brew with a sweet and spicy finish. Rooibos is a shrub-like botanical indigenous to South Africa. This herbal tea is prized for its beautiful red color and full-bodied sweet flavor without a hint of bitterness. Along with true cinnamon that adds a delicious aroma and depth, Organic Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free and provides the perfect option for a relaxing evening beverage.

For Superior Tea Flavor, Try Our High-Quality Tea Infuser

Tea lovers know that high-quality infusion often makes the difference between an average and an extraordinary cup of tea.

Tea infusers are great for being able to blend the perfectly seeped cup of hot or cold tea. You can also easily layer different loose teas and develop a combination of your favorite flavors.

Collapsible Tea Infuser

This tea infuser provides superior loose tea taste, and the small holes keep any loose tea inside. The biodynamic and organic tea leaves are allowed to unfurl and expand, rewarding you with their full flavor potential. Enjoy every healthy sip, brewed to perfection in our Collapsible Tea Infuser.

Made of laser-cut stainless steel, our Tea Infuser with drip catcher easily collapses down for convenient storage and can be taken with you when you are on the go.

The high-quality stainless alloy content resists most oxidizing acids, including the tannin acids in tea, and can withstand all ordinary rusting and corrosion, making it one of the most durable tea infusers on the market.

The wide rim easily fits most tea cups, mugs and teapots. When your tea is done steeping, rest the tea infuser on the included drip catcher.

Steeping our biodynamic and organic loose leaf teas in this quality tea infuser provides a convenient way to enjoy the intriguing flavors these teas offer.

FAQ
  1. 1. How do biodynamic and organic teas compare to others?

With Certified Biodynamic® and Certified Organic teas, you can rest assured that they are free of non-organic certified pesticides, chemical fertilizers and genetically engineered (GE) ingredients. And in the case of biodynamic, organic fertilizers and pesticides are primarily created/obtained within the farm itself.

  2. 2. What makes your green tea so unique?

Our Solspring® Imperial Green Tea not only provides a light and crisp flavor, but it’s also Certified Biodynamic® and is grown and harvested in small tea gardens in the pristine foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. These small 100-year-old tea gardens are third-generation family owned.

  3. 3. What’s so special about your tulsi teas?

Our Solspring® Biodynamic® and Organic Tulsi Teas are created from an Ayurvedic tulsi herb that’s indigenous to India. Both tulsi teas offer a delightful blend of three varieties of tulsi with Krishna, Rama and Vana. Naturally caffeine free, both teas can be enjoyed for a soothing experience any time of the day.

  4. 4. Do I need an infuser just to enjoy the tea?

A tea infuser is only recommended if you have a preference for loose leaf tea. With our tea bags, you can easily steep delightful cups of Solspring® Teas by simply pouring boiling water over the tea bag to fill up your cup. You can also enjoy iced tea by allowing the brewed tea to cool and then serve over ice.
